Description
Vernacular Jazz is an African American social dance tradition that developed organically alongside jazz music in the early 20th century. Rooted in improvisation and personal expression, it includes energetic solo movement, rhythmic footwork, and classic jazz steps such as the Charleston and the Shim Sham.
Our weekly Vernacular Jazz class is perfect for beginners and offers a welcoming space to explore classic jazz steps, rhythm, movement, and routines. You’ll build skills that enhance your personal style while deepening your connection to the music.
These foundations will also enrich your Lindy Hop, helping you bring greater individuality, versatility, and creativity to the dance floor.
Suitable for beginners - pay on the door - no need to book.

You’ve completed Level 1. You can mix up 6 and 8 count moves and you’re starting to play with variations. You can confidently dance standard moves like swing outs, tuck turns and circles. We’re taking your skills to the next level. Be prepared to explore musicality, rhythm and digging into what makes Lindy Hop swing.
