Whether you’re building confidence in your Lindy Hop or ready to deepen your skills and musical expression, this weekend is going to be packed with inspiration, learning, and great dancing.
Teachers
Lisa & Fabien met in Herräng, Sweden in 2010 and have been teaching and dancing together ever since. With backgrounds in professional dance, choreography, lindy hop, and blues, they bring a fun, musical, and inspiring approach to their classes. Together they’ve achieved numerous international competition placements, including at ILHC, Camp Hollywood, Savoy Cup, and the European Swing Dance Championships.
Fabien comes from France and has been teaching swing dancing since 2004, specialising in lindy hop and blues. His love of choreography has led to him to choreograph a number of successful showcases performed at ILHC and other events. Lisa is a professional dancer from London, now living in France. Classically trained from the age of 6 she discovered her love for all styles of dance whilst studying for her degree in Theatre Dance at London Studio Centre. After leaving college she worked professionally in the commercial dance world. She then discovered and fell in love with lindy hop and blues and has immersed herself in all things swing ever since.
Their fun natured teaching style, yet ability to breakdown a movement, means their classes are a perfect mix for those wanting to progress their dancing. Constantly pushing themselves in their own dancing means they understand the work that goes into becoming a better dancer and are passionate about sharing their experiences and helping others to achieve their goals.
Socials
The weekend features two fantastic social dances with live music.
The Saturday night social will be one not to miss! We're bringing some incredible talent to Exeter and we can't wait to reveal them next week.
The Sunday Tea Dance will feature The Midnight Standard, featuring some of Exeter’s finest musicians. Brought together by the fabulously talented pianist Alfie Pugh we’ve got a brilliant line up of musicians!
Level Descriptions
Improvers: You have been dancing Lindy Hop for around a year and are comfortable leading or following a swing out. You are beginning to understand the technique and mechanics behind core movements in greater depth, rather than simply memorising shapes and patterns. You can confidently mix 6- and 8-count rhythms naturally in social dancing and are eager to develop your musicality, connection, and improvisation skills. You are familiar with Charleston basics and can comfortably transition between Lindy Hop and Charleston movements within a dance.
Intermediates: You have been dancing Lindy Hop regularly for two years or more. You are confident leading or following a swing out across a range of tempos and can comfortably incorporate variations while maintaining clear connection and flow in the partnership. You have a solid understanding of rhythm, timing, and partner connection, and are ready to explore classic Lindy Hop movements, such as the Swing Out in greater depth, focusing on quality of movement, creativity, musical interpretation, and dynamic partnership.
